We are back producing Western Canada’s Biggest New Years Eve Party…The Bear’s Children’s Fund New Years Eve Bash at The Shaw Conference Centre. Last years event sold out and raised money for initiatives in the community for kids! Last years line up included Rev Theory, Age of Daze, and the Super Session with Big Sugar and The Trews. This was Big Sugars first show together since 2003.
The Bear’s Children’s Fund (BCF) was proudly established in the fall of 1992. Since that date this amazing fund has done an immense amount of good work in the City of Edmonton.
Throughout the year The Bear holds special events to raise money specifically for the Bear’s Children’s Fund. The two biggest are the annual Rock Sale and Auction (first Sunday in December) and the annual New Years Eve Party at the Shaw Conference Centre.
As well, clients, friends, listeners do several events throughout the year and donate the proceeds to the Fund. The total money raised, and donated, is simply ‘staggering.’
To date, more than $1.3 million dollars has been donated to very worthy causes in the City of Edmonton. The list is now too long to chronicle but here are just a few great examples of the people that the Bear’s Children’s Fund has donated to:
• The Stollery Children’s Hospital.
• The Royal Alexander Hospital
• Edmonton Police Service DARE Program for drug – alcohol – resistance – education.
• The Cross Cancer Institute
• The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital
Other good causes helped include: The Ben Calf Robe Native school, the Edmonton Garrison Base Fund, The Boy’s and Girls Clubs, The City Centre Education Project, and Ronald McDonald House.
The Bear’s Children’s Fund is thee largest single ‘media’ fund in the City of Edmonton.
If you wish to DONATE to the Bear’s Children’s Fund please direct your note to The Bear’s Program Director, Ryan Zimmerman, at rzimmerman@radio.astral.com.
